Our school
Linigra is a Hotel and Tourism Vocational Secondary School and adult training institution established in Zagreb in 1998 and accredited by the national government of the Republic of Croatia. It operates in sector of vocational and adult training. It is a rather small school with only around 75 students (14-18 years of age). There are 4 grade levels and there are approximately 15 students in one class. The title they obtain after finishing the school is a hotel and tourism technician. Most students pursue careers in jobs connected to tourism, primarily jobs in hotels and tourist agencies, where they can work at the front desk or any other department, for example, coordinate different services of an agency and hotel's sales department, calculate the prices of tourist services, work on the analysis of the tourist market or work in advertising. Some of them work as tour guides or become entrepreneurs in their own accommodation or catering businesses. They study three languages: English, German and Italian during their secondary education, is what makes this vocational programme unique. We often take part in different fairs such as tourism fairs or job fairs. During their education, students also do some practical education during the summer. Many of them get work placements in the same hotels where they did practical education. At Linigra we believe that learning should never stop and should continue throughout the whole life.Thats why we want to take part in this project and make our students know that there are lots of things to learn from other schools and other cultures. Linigra staff consists of 14 people. Our key personnel are teachers who have hunger for knowledge and never stop being 'curious' and bringing new ideas into their teaching, often using ICT.
